The StreamMetrix service measures streaming media on websites and integrates the information with the SiteMetrix visitor data. StreamMetrix tracks activity on embedded players and there is also a module available that tracks the activity on stand alone players.
StreamMetrix is a suite of online, real time reports that detail online website viewers' behaviour and interaction with Streaming content.
The system utilizes HTML tags to track and measure events as they are carried out in streaming media players. It is compatible with:
- Windows Media Player
- Real Media Player
- All Flash Players
StreamMetrix is a 3rd party independent browser based system which collects all of the data including player events from the browser. It does not utilize streaming or server logs to calculate its results.
StreamMetrix has the ability to measure the following types of streaming media:
- Looping Streams
- Individual Streams
- Live Streams
- Advertisements within Streams
Using StreamMetrix it is possible to track unique visitors across all of the individual streams on a site, measure how many times each unique visitor visits each stream, how much of a stream is viewed, how many times in a day/week/month each stream is visited, etc. It gives you critical 3rd party independent figures upon which you can sell streaming advertising.
As well as providing the capability to examine data at its most granular level, the system also allows the grouping of data based on content filters, advertisement filters, play list filters, etc.
